CAMA’s classroom activity utilizes healthy competition for the purpose of motivating students and encouraging best efforts, but not as in a typical sporting event which often fosters egocentrism, negative attitudes or aggressive, dangerous behavior.

“Mixed Martial Arts” (MMA) is a label often mistakenly applied to all jujutsu training. We do not consider our method to be constrained by the definition of MMA which is generally deemed sport-oriented training specific to competitions sanctioned by UFC and other affiliated organizations. Practitioners of MMA generally seek to be highly conditioned athletes with some level of skill in several martial arts. While CAMA students do learn how to maximize physical conditioning, the core training philosophy is far removed from that of “martial sport”.
